For James Anthony Resulta, protecting employee data is more than an additional responsibility. It is something that has been part of his professional life for years. He joined FrieslandCampina in 2021 and today works as Payroll Lead for the Philippines, Singapore and Hong Kong. Alongside his regional role, James is a Local Privacy Officer (LPO), focusing specifically on employee data. With 15 years of experience in payroll and a career spent working with sensitive information, the role feels like a natural fit. “Even if I wasn’t officially an LPO, I would still be an LPO at heart,” James says. “When people share their personal information with us, they trust us to handle it responsibly. Protecting that trust is very important to me,” James explains.
Making an impact behind the scenes
Much of an LPO’s work happens behind the scenes, but its impact can be significant. James helps colleagues navigate questions around employee data, reviews processes involving personal information and supports privacy awareness. “The work is very important, when an incident occurs, the responsibility becomes even more tangible: LPO’s are the first in line to report. But what I value the most is being able to help others make the right decisions before something goes wrong. Being able to guide my colleagues and prevent potential privacy risks is very rewarding. Every action contributes to protecting our employees’ information. In the end, it is about creating a culture of privacy and trust,” he explains.
